Meet and greet the farmers

Watch some of the countries most successful tomato farmers parade their crops.

Learn all about tomato varieties and harvesting, and enjoy a spot of tomato tasting.

Be part of the judging for Toronto’s reddest tomato!


Garden of Goodness - 10am and 12pm daily

Plant, grow, eat

Learn how to grow and care for your own tomato plants - including watering, fertilising, pruning and picking!

Plus, buy everything you need to plant your very own miniature tomato orchard in your backyard, or even on your balcony!


Main Lawn - 9am, 10am and 11am daily

Tinkering with Tomatoes

Craft workshops for kids (6 - 12 years)

Bring the kids to a fully supervised one-hour workshop while you take a well-earned rest. They will learn how to make paint out of tomatoes, turn tomatoes into stamps, and make chocolate and tomato cupcakes. (You won’t believe how good they are!)

They’ll also try their hand at planting seeds, on their quest to become a junior farmer!


Garden of Goodness - 2pm and 3pm daily

Sauces and salsas

$5 per person | 16+

Learn how to make and bottle your own tomato-based sauces and salsas. All ingredients and take-home jars are provided. Run by award-winning home cook, Alexis Appleby.


Picnic Hill (next to Food Hall 1) - all day Saturday and Sunday

Tomato art exhibition

See and buy beautiful painting and sculptures of tomatoes, and other produce. Meet the artists and enjoy a leisurely lunch as you peruse the wares of the art market.


Vine Avenue - 11am and 1pm daily

Tomato dying

$5 per person | 16+

Learn how to use tomatoes to create natural fabric dyes. Then use tie-dying techniques to turn a simple white t-shirt into a work of art, with your own handmade tomato dye! All equipment provided.


Vine Avenue | 9am and 12pm daily

Tomatoes for life

Discover the health benefits of tomato juices and soups. Learn new recipies and get schooled in how to use other fresh produce to really enhance the natural tomato flavour. Also, discover how to make a tomato and strawberry soup the kids will love!


Main Lawn | Saturday 2-4pm

Tomato-tastic Concert

Join Canada’s very own punk princess, Avril Lavigne, for an afternoon concert that will rock your socks off! Also making an appearance will be contestants from 2017’s Canadian Pop Idol and Canada’s Got Talent.

Entry to the concert is included in your general festival admission ticket and seating is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.


Main Lawn | Sunday 2-4pm

‘La tomatino’ Spanish-style tomato fight

$50 per person | 16+

The festival finale is an event that is sure to leave a lasting impression on participants and spectators alike. Join us for a Spanish-style ‘La Tomatino’ food fight, which will see participants go head to head in a tomato throwing spectacle like you’ve never seen before!

Special crates of inedible produce will be brought in from across the country especially for this dramatic festival closer. All participants must be fully clothed, and enclosed shoes must be worn at all times.
